Addis Ababa is known as historical place because this place has historical memories. You can travel through public transportation as public business is managed by Anbessa City Bus Service Enterprise or blue and white share taxis. Taxis are also known as minibuses because more than twelve people can travel at one time in a taxi. Driver and weyala are two people who take the responsibility of each taxi. Driver drives the taxi while weyala collects fares and calls out destination for each taxi for the information of passengers.
Addis Ababa Ring Road was initiated in 1998 to enhance peripheral development and to implement master plan of the city. Ring Road is divided into three major phases and it connects all five main gates of Addis Ababa available for entry and exit to all other regions including Jimma, Debre Zeit, Asmara, Gojjam and Ambo. CRBC (China Road and Bridge Corporation) was the partner of this project. Ring Road is really important as it proves helpful to decongest and to alleviate car traffic of the city. Selam Bus Line Share Company is the provider of intercity bus service.
A new terminal to Addis Ababa Bole International Airport was opened in 2003 for the convenience of travelers. Old Lideta Airport located in the Western district is mostly used by small crafts and military planes as well as helicopters.
Addis Ababa provides railway connection with Djibouti City with striking French style railway station. Railway is under process in Addis Ababa and the pending construction of a new modern rail line is required to build in the near future.

Light rail system was planned in September 2010 by Ethiopian Railway Corporation. Funding agreement was done with the Export and Import Bank of China. This plan includes 30 km network of two lines one is in the east west line from Ayat to the Torhailoch Ring Road and other is from Menelik Square to Mercato Bus Station, Meskel Square and Akaki.
